ABOUT ME!
I, Abhijith Asok am a Microsoft Data Scientist, Harvard-graduate, mentor/educator, speaker, model, actor and more. I have been working closely with data in multiple fields of interest over the past 10 years.
In the past, I have worked with data across healthcare, communications, social science etc. - notably, leading the data team of Safecity - a non-profit that uses data as a medium to combat gender-based violence. I have a Bachelor's in Engineering and a Master's in Mathematics from India's BITS Pilani University and also a Master's in Data Science, with a Healthcare focus, from Harvard University. With multiple research papers in pure math, social sciences and computational genomics, as well as 3 pending patents to my name, I have been with Microsoft for 5 years. Currently, I am part of the Data Science team of the Operating Systems wing of Microsoft's Cloud Computing System, Azure, creating data-driven impact via solutions to improve and make incident response processes more efficient, thereby saving human time and effort. A chance encounter into the portfolio of a Boudoir photographer brought me into Modeling in 2021. Since then, I have had the good fortune to create a lot of radiating modeling art across Boudoir, Urban, Romantic, Lifestyle, Period, Fantasy and a lot more. Modeling has been a game-changing life initiative for me, helping me gain confidence to be vulnerable, look at myself through alternate perspectives, and embrace a feeling of self-liberation and I am very excited for my future projects. Please visit the 'Modeling' tab for my portfolio.
As a lifelong movie buff, it was only a matter of time before my interest grew beyond watching them to being a part of them - it was a perfect extension to the experience from modeling, that gave way to my first short film as an actor as well as an editorial assistant - 'Two Deaths, No Waiting', as part of the 48-Hour Film Project, Seattle 2024. More projects are in the pipeline. Please visit the 'Acting' tab to view my portfolio.
Additionally, I led the Campus Press club and was part of the core of the Mime club during my college days, created the initial version of the first large-scale application to query functional annotations of all genetic variants, during my time at Harvard, and served on the boards of both the Queer and the Non-Monogamy Employee Resource Groups at Microsoft. Currently I am an Advisory Board Member of the School of Economics and Public Policy at the Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation in India. I am also a proponent of gender-related social justice and strongly believe that gender inequity is one of the most pressing issues of the era. I am also a trained Carnatic music singer, and a former breakdancer.
I live my life by my core fundamental philosophy 'Progression, not perfection. One day at a time'. You can watch my TEDX talk on this principle below.
